She is unlike anyone you have ever seen, at both times familiar and exotic, Aprella is a model who is instantly striking and immediately intriguing. When she walks into a room you cannot help but be fascinated by every facet of her being. It is as if a figure from a dreamscape painting has come to life, which is no wonder why Aprella is a much-sought-after model, both on the runway and for the more elite class of fine-art painters.
She possess that "cult of personality" that you are either born with or spend your whole life wishing to call your own. From the minute she stepped in front of the camera, everyone stopped what they were doing to watch her at work. During her photo shoot the only sound in the room were the murmurs of the viewers saying things like, "My god, she's gorgeous" "Look at those cheekbones" and my favorite "It's hard to say that photos don't do her justice, because she's so freakin' gorgeous in them as well."
The entire crew laughed, because after the first frame of film we really didn't need to shoot anymore, she had nailed it on the first go. She just stepped in front and "SNAP" that was it. Perfect shot. However, greedily we shot lots more...
It's not often that you have the opportunity to work with someone who is the very definition of a consummate professional, unearthly, gorgeous, and most importantly completely down to earth and just a sheer pleasure to be around.

Everything that makes Aprella unique in person translates completely into her photographs. She is stunning, completely original, enigmatic, and thoroughly engaging. She is a muse for anyone who meets her.

What music to do you listen to when no one else is around?

Oh, when it comes to music I like to hear, I have no shame. There's nothing I listen to alone that I wouldn't torture everyone in ear shot with as well. I'm mostly a Metal Head.. Old Metallica, The Haunted, Shadows Fall, Unearth…but I also love the likes of Muddy Waters and I couldn't live without my Chavela Vargas sounds.

What is your *must have* essential (ie. clothes, makeup, etc.)?

My Passport, Gym Membership, Hair Dye, Car/Motorcycle, Brilliant Paintings, Ipod, My countless concert hoodie collection, Guitars, Stiletto Heels, High Fashion Couture, Bright Red lipstick, American made Peanut Butter, AE1 Cannon.

What inspires you?

Life's ups and downs, Travel, Music/Lyrics, Art/Artists, Circus/Performers, Memories.

What is one book you feel every person should read? Why?

Well, if we are talking "everybody" I'm gonna have to say Road Atlas & Travel Guide. Seriously, I don't think enough people get out and look around at the world. And if in LA on a visit I would recommend John Water's "Crackpot". That's one funny book.

As a little kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Happy! Ha-ha Cause I had a little problem with growing up in Alabama and not fitting in. But beyond that, I really wanted to tour and see the world as a Rock star / Guitarist or a Trapeze Artist in a circus. I guess the years didn't change me too much because currently I take classes for aerial silks, trapeze, and there are three guitars, two amps, and a nice pair of headphones taking up all the extra space in my bedroom.

How would you describe yourself to a stranger?

I'm a sweet-tempered tomboy that likes to wear sexy dresses and red lipstick, Unpretentious, Appreciative, Driven, Compassionate, Goofy, Friendly, Creative, Tease, Nomadic, Metal Head, 100% Adrenaline Junkie and Lucky to be Alive.

(Obviously she didn't say gorgeous, because unless the stranger was blind, they'd be able to attest to that fact.)

What is the one thing you've done that you're most proud of?

Telling my mom "I'm sorry" and really meaning it.

What most impresses you about a person?

Talented driven people that are positive and have an ability to be amazingly talented at what they do yet even more amazingly humble when it comes to talking about it.

You model for a lot of artists, is there a difference between modeling for a photographer versus someone in fine arts? Is one more difficult than the other?

There is definitely a difference. Sitting for a painter comes with being able to hold still for long periods of time which can be very painful on the body. After getting the pose down that the artist wants to paint I will go into another world and spend my time working out the daydreams in my head. Sitting there, my outward appearance is still and it is meditation time for me. For photo shoots I stir up energy and emotions and change my range of them over and over so that's more like acting and getting out a variety of emotions. There needs to be variety because fifty frames of the same thing would be a waste. I'm not sure what's more difficult for me. I love doing both so much. But, I think there is a difference with every modelling gig just due to the individuals not being the same every time. It comes down to attitudes on the set for me. Some people are easier to work with than others.

Your hair has become quite a signature for you, what made you decide to go for it?

It's funny; I've dyed my hair one punky color or another ever since I was 18 years old. So, really it's just a habit at this point and I don't really think too much about it.

But I get all these really flattering e-mails about my hair from girls and guys. They want to know what I use and how I do it. In a few cases people have even sent me photos of how they dyed their hair just like mine.

When did you start modeling and how did you get more involved in it? What is most challenging, print or runway?

I started out in the fashion world when I was about 12 years old in Birmingham, Alabama. A photographer did a test shoot with me. He then gave the results to a modelling agency. One of the agents liked my look enough to send me to Atlanta to runway test me and to have me compete with other girls for a spot on their roster for a contract. I was lucky that I got to sign on the dotted line. As I got more involved I found that I'm a big fan of surreal art, unreal clothes, great sets, and over the top emotions. My own interests in life turned my head to more artistic modelling. So, feeling the need to express myself the way I liked I found others with the same interests as myself and spent a ton of time networking. I think runway is the most challenging because with a photo shoot there is always the option of delete and with runway it is live and you never know what might happen, what might fall off of you, or what you might fall on. Fall on a photo shoot its funny. Fall on a runway it's embarrassing. But, I have to say I love the runway. I love knowing it is what it is and there is no option for delete and redo.

The hair stylist of the calendar photo shoot, is named lucas. He has become an instant celebrity among the models. How did you first start working with him?

I LOVE lucas yes that's "lucas" with the lower case L. I'll never forget him asking me to credit him that way for a magazine layout we did together. "No last name. Just lucas with a lower case L." he said. lucas and I met around 2004 when he was doing another models hair at a shoot I was also booked for. It ended up being a 12 or more hour day and we just got along so well that we kept in touch and I've since called on him for everything from being my hair stylist to being by my side at my birthday party. He is brilliant and how can a girl not love a man that wears high heels while doing her hair up perfect?

Out of all the things you've done what has been the most personally rewarding?

Hum, I don't think I can name just one project as being the most rewarding to me personally. I think just the fact that I've been fortunate to do such a wide range of so much interesting work is the most rewarding thing to me. I decided to follow my own path and not concern myself with one look or only doing one type of work. Being diverse has rewarded me with some fantastic projects and in most cases it was on those projects that I made life long friends.

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who sees you as a role model?

Be SMART about what you do. If you are just starting out ask around and do some research on the people you would like to work with. Above all know what you like and don't like and ask questions. You have to know who you are and what you want to get out of being a model. Be honest, on time, and have a good attitude. Don't take anything for granted and be sure you know how to handle rejection. Lastly, I can not stress this enough NO REAL AGENCY TAKES MONEY FROM YOU UP FRONT! A real agency makes a % of what you make on jobs they get for you... end of story... if anyone asks you for money up front for anything they are a scam! And in my opinion if you have the skills and are driven enough you don't need an agent. Network, take care of your looks, and be yourself.

How would you describe your experience with the calendar? The photo shoot, etc…?

I had a blast. It was so cool to be part of such an amazing idea and project. It felt great that everyone involved felt the same way about taking time for making a difference. Everyone involved was beyond talented, sweet as can be and had me laughing the whole time I was there. I know I've walked away part of something that I'll be proud to see on store shelves and beyond that I've acquired some great new friends. Thank you to Dale May, Dawn Geary, lucas, Marie-Michele Bonneau, Seth Wood and all of the beautiful girls in this calendar to be! It's an honor to be one of just 12 models for this.
